Ecoflex is a pre-insulated pipe system at its best — versatile, flexible and durable. Ecoflex consists of Uponor crosslinked polyethylene (PEX) or high-density polyethylene (HDPE) pipe encased in closed-cell, PEX-foam insulation and covered by a watertight, corrugated HDPE jacket.

The innovative design of Ecoflex provides for a highly durable, highly sustainable piping system that retains more heat in hot-water lines and resists corrosion in even the harshest water and soil conditions. Plus, the long coil lengths virtually eliminate most underground connections, reducing your liability for potential leak points.

PEX is an acronym for crosslinked polyethylene. It is a flexible, durable, corrosion-resistant product that possesses distinctive properties that make it ideal for fire sprinkler, plumbing and radiant floor heating and cooling systems. There are three different types of PEX tubing: PEX-a, PEX-b and PEX-c. Uponor manufactures PEX-a tubing, which is considered the superior type of PEX in the industry.

Yes. Uponor PEX has undergone decades of rigorous testing. In 1973, Uponor (then Wirsbo), submitted PEX tubing samples to an independent laboratory. For three decades, these samples underwent continuous hydrostatic tests at extreme temperatures and pressures — up to 203°F and 239 psi. When the 30-year life cycle tests were concluded, not a single piece of Uponor PEX had experienced any breakdown or failure.

Leaks are not a concern when the system is properly installed. With a life expectancy of more than 100 years, Uponor PEX pipe has withstood the most extensive tests in the industry for more than 40 years. What's more, all Uponor PEX is thoroughly inspected before it leaves our manufacturing plant to ensure a quality product.

Yes. Ecoflex Thermal features Wirsbo hePEX™ pipe that has an oxygen-diffusion barrier for hydronic heating and cooling applications. Ecoflex Potable PEX has Uponor AquaPEX® pipe and Ecoflex Potable HDPE uses high-density polyethylene pipe.
