Uponor’s pre-insulated pipe systems offer flexible, plastic distribution piping for a variety of hydronic heating and cooling and potable water-supply applications. Service pipes are made from either durable Engel-method crosslinked polyethylene (PEX-a) or high-density polyethylene (HDPE), and are protected by multilayer PEX-foam insulation and a waterproof, corrugated HDPE jacket. Lightweight and flexible, pre-insulated pipes install easily and quickly in commercial and residential applications — even over obstacles and around corners.
A proven product with more than 70 million feet of pipe installed worldwide, Uponor’s pre-insulated pipe systems provide consistent, uninterrupted performance. Virtually maintenance-free, Uponor’s pre-insulated pipe resists even the most aggressive water and soil conditions, which is especially important because the pipe is buried underground. And with coil lengths available up to 656 feet, no underground joints are needed — resulting in seamless piping runs.
The Pre-insulated Pipe Systems feature durable Ecoflex® Thermal Single, Ecoflex Thermal Twin and Ecoflex Potable HDPE and can use either Uponor’s unique ProPEX® connection method, WIPEX™ dezincification-resistant (DZR) brass compression fittings, male threaded adapter fittings or compression couplings.
The Ecoflex Family of Products
Ecoflex Thermal Single and Ecoflex Thermal Twin are ideal for hydronic heating and cooling systems because they feature a special oxygen-diffusion barrier on the PEX tubing surface that keeps oxygen from penetrating the tubing walls and from entering the circulating fluid. Ecoflex Potable HDPE is the economical solution for chilled-water, cooling and low-temperature heating applications. And Ecoflex Potable plus, which includes a heat-trace cable along the length of the tubing, eliminates frozen water line concerns in cold climates.
